Kidderminster Library Exhibition Programme

January - June 2008

Exhibitions

12th January - 2nd February
'Art in Stitches' - Eileen Cros
An exhibition of three-dimensional textiles. An unusual 'take' on embroidery to  include fantasy figures and collage.
9th February - 1st March
'Unlocking The Past' - Worcestershire Archaeological Service
An exhibition showing the skills of illustrators and artists who work with the archaeologists at Worcestershire County Council's Historical Environment and Archaeology Service
8th - 29th March
Multicultural - Rogue Gene Collective
A diverse Art Group with UK footprint bringing an eclectic mix of Art Genres into one space.
5th - 26th April

'Both Sides Now' - Alan Phillips
Traditional landscape paintings of North Devon and City life of the Midlands which are intuitive and imaginative.

3rd - 24th May
'Memories and Emotions' - Jo Lees
Paintings to evoke emotions ranging from moody moors to tranquil waters using inks and abstract colour
31st May - 28th June
'Elements' - Artemis
An exhibition of textile art inspired by the natural elements demonstrating traditional and experimental materials and techniques.

7th January - 6th February
Images of Bewdley - Kidderminster Library
A selection of views of Bewdley dating from 1790 belonging to the Worcestershire collection.
8th February - 3rd March
'Lace Liaisons' - The Lace Guild
A display of historical and contemporary lace pieces from the Lace Guild Collection and Wyre Forest Lacemakers
5th - 31st March
Dominic Jones Photography - Dominic Jones
The beauty of the Worcestershire countryside captured on camera.
2nd - 30th April
'Glass Solutions' - Edward Parry Centre (training)
Glass, jewellery and slumped glass pieces.
2nd May - 2nd June
'Do You See What I See' - Brenda Wood
Original photography made into cards, mounted and enlarged plus small craft items
4th - 30th June
'Baubles, Bangles and Beads' - Sarah Goodfield
A selection of handmade jewellery, using various finishings including gold and silver-plated.

Piano solos, songs and monologues with Guy Rowland (piano) and Elizabeth MacDonald (soprano)

Jazz concert by the Simon Deeley Trio.

Thursday 6th March - 7.30 pm
Midland Gershwin Mayerl Society Concert
Recital by Michael Jones (piano) programme to be announced.

Friday 14th March - 7.30 pm
Kidderminster Classical Music Society
Piano recital by renowned international pianist ALLAN SCHILLER
Tickets £10/members £8 from Kidderminster Library.
Thursday 5th June - 7.30 pm
Midland Gershwin Mayerl Society Concert
The music of Frederic Chopin (1810-1849) presented and played by pianist Janine Smith.

Friday 27th June - 7.30 pm
Kidderminster Classical Music Society
Di Xiao piano recital by arrangement with Birmingham Conservatoire.

WYRE FOREST FILM CLUB
Wyre Forest Film Club continues to bring cinema to the area with a ten week series from 30th January. Screenings will be on Tuesdays at 7.30pm (doors open 7.00pm) Please pick up a detailed programme from the Library or telephone Jes Hamblett 01562 824500

READERS GROUP
Kidderminster Library Readers Group is an informal gathering which meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 7.30pm.  A detailed leaflet is available from the Library or ring  on 01562 824500

ARTS MAILING LIST
To help us keep you informed about arts events and initiatives, Worcestershire County Council and all six District Councils in the county have joined forces to provide a new Arts Mailing List.  The sevice is designed to cater for all interests, from occasional visitors to professional artists and performers.  For further details and to register pick up a registration form from the Library

EXHIBITING AT KIDDERMINSTER LIBRARY.
If you are an artist / craftsperson / organisation and you are interested in exhibiting your work in the Library please apply in writing to Kidderminster Library clearly marking the envelope 'Art Application'.  Your application should include:

  Your preference for exhibition space eg. gallery, craft cases, foyer etc.
  A letter of explanation briefly describing the title, theme, medium, number and sizes of work and any preference  for  dates      A brief paragraph about you / your organisation
  A selection of photographs of the work  (please include a stamped addressed envelope for     their  return).
