Highways Search Enquiries

The County Council is Highways Authority for the six districts within Worcestershire and holds information about the status and extents of the public highway for Worcester City, Redditch, Bromsgrove, Wyre Forest, Malvern Hills and Wychavon.

Q. How can I find out if a road is adopted by the County Council?

The List of streets is available for inspection and free to view in Reception at County Hall, Spetchley Road, Worcester during normal office hours. (No appointment is necessary). Copies are also available to view at each of the District Council offices within Worcestershire:

Q. How can I request a highways personal search?

Should you require highways information relating to a particular property or piece of land, we operate a fast efficient personal search service by a team of officers trained to interpret highways records and keep in constant contact with those responsible for instigating proposals to the highway network within Worcestershire. This ensures you receive the most up to date information available.

The County Councils procedure for dealing with these personal search enquiries is as follows:

  • Complete the highways search enquiry form This is a link to a PDF file. (228.57 KB) and provide a location plan for the property or land searched against.
  • There is a fee of £10.00 for the first question answered and £5.00 for each additional question answered.
  • Electronic enquiries will usually be replied to within 24 hours (Monday – Friday) and will be invoiced monthly.

Q. How can I find out the extent of public highway?

Should you require information and a plan showing the extent of publicly maintainable highway then please write to:

A charge of £30.00 is made (for large areas the fee may be greater) and a cheque made payable to Worcestershire County Council must accompany the letter. We will endeavour to answer your enquiry as quickly as possible.
