Worcestershire Music Library?

Based at Worcester Library the Worcestershire Music Library has one of the Largest Collections of Vocal Scores and Orchestral Music in the Country.  They are available for loan to Orchestras, Choirs, and Societies etc.

What is the County Music Collection?

It contains 5,000 sets of choral, orchestral, band and chamber music, provided for the use of youth orchestras, schools, societies and other groups.   It covers a wide range of music, from carols to operas and from simple orchestral arrangements for schools to symphonies.

Are there any charges?

Charges are payable on collection of music and are based on a standard three month loan period.  If the music is required for six months then it will be necessary to double the charge.  These items will not be renewable and if they are returned late the current overdue charge of 20p per part will be charged.  Lost or damaged parts will still be subject to the same replacement cost as previously.

Replacement charges for lost or damaged parts will also be levied.

Items that have been re-numbered or defaced in any way will be subject to a charge for repairing or replacing copy/copies

Where can I see a catalogue of the collection?

On the Worcestershire Libraries Catalogue; more stock is being added to this catalogue all the time.

How do I use the County Music Library?

Easy – if you are already a member of the Worcestershire Music Library complete the online request form.  If not and you are a member of Worcestershire libraries with a current library card complete the online application form.  If you are not a member of either you will need to visit your local library to enrol with Worcestershire libraries

How many sets can I borrow?

There is no restriction, within reason, on the number of works, which may be borrowed at any one time.

How long can I borrow the music for?

The normal loan period is three months.   Sets can be loaned for longer periods if advance notification is given but additional hire charges will be incurred.   Borrowers are requested to return the works complete to ensure future borrowers speedy access to the service; there are overdue charges if items are not returned on time.

Credits?

All groups using music from the County Music Collection for a public performance are asked to mention this in their programmes.

What if the work I want is not in stock?

If works (or sufficient copies) are not available from the Music Library Collection, sets can sometimes be obtained from other music libraries across the country.    However we require at least two month’s notice, especially if a large number of copies are required.
