Wyre Forest District Council offers a variety of Cultural and
Leisure activities which include:
The Arts Development team help to raise aware of
local arts. They provide information on arts issues and assist
local artists with grant applications. All art forms are covered,
including performing arts, visual arts, crafts and media
arts.
The Play Development team organise a
range of activities and events throughout the year. The team
also organise activities in the summer holidays as well as the
PLAYDAY events. This work complements the work of the private
sector and addresses the needs of families and young people in the
local area.
The Sports Development team offers advice and
support to sports clubs within the Wyre Forest district. The team
helps clubs work towards achieving “Clubmark” - the nationally
recognised accreditation for sports clubs.
Bewdley Museum, situated in the heart of the
picturesque Georgian town, illustrates the growth and trades of the
town as well as the crafts of the surrounding Wyre Forest area
through fascinating indoor and outdoor displays.
The Countryside Service manages the nature
reserves and natural open spaces of the District Council and their
wildlife and to enhance the experience for those who visit them.
The team also provide an environmental education service to all
aspects of the community by organising Young Rangers clubs, Summer
Holiday events and activities and talks and walks for local
groups.
The Events Team organises events
throughout the District; for example the Dance Festival, Bands in
the Park, Country and Western Festival and Under Fives Day.
Sports and Leisure Centres are managed in partnership
with DC Leisure. The Council ensures that the partnership
agreement is adhered to and liaises regularly to ensure that the
programme of activities and quality standards are the highest
